Despite the Economic Climate Administrative and PA Roles Are Still Appearing in London - recruitment agencies

While there is no denying that the Economic situation in the UK could be better and that unemployment is high a search online reveals that there are many posts for PAs and administrative support in London being advertised every day.

Although the competition for each position may be high, if you live in London the chances are that you will eventually succeed in finding a job if you can demonstrate the right attitude, skills.

In difficult economic times, when companies are slimming down to keep their costs to a minimum the core of their business and its continued survival are likely to rely even more heavily on reliable and efficient service delivery. This will increasingly depend on the commitment and efficiency of the administrative support staff.

They are experienced people who often know a great deal about the day to day running of the company across the range of its activities.

An efficient PA or secretary can help a busy and under pressure manager or executive to keep on top of and prioritise their most important tasks, confident in the knowledge that there is back-up and support to enable them to focus on their priorities.

Supporting roles are often undervalued but no company can run smoothly without proper back-office support.

For anyone who has been made redundant, especially for older job seekers, it can be worth considering applying for roles like these. Plainly maturity is an asset in a supporting role along with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

It is as important when applying for this type of work as for any other to prepare thoroughly. There is plenty of guidance available, not least from specialised recruitment agencies, on how to construct and present a CV that will provide all the skills and experience an employer might be looking for, providing the candidate does actually have the evidence to back it up.

Although it is said that it is easier to find a job when someone is already employed, redundancy does not have to be a negative. If it has come with a redundancy pay-off it will provide a breathing space and the funds to be able to prepare properly for a job search.

It will help to remember that you already have a network of contacts from your former job so it is worth spreading the word among them that you are looking for a new position. They are people who already know you and your capabilities and are therefore more likely to be willing to help.

It is hepful to be innovative, so using a blog may help advertise your skills. Doing voluntary work will help fill the gap on your CV if finding another job is taking a while. This can also help not only to keep your skills up to date and to demonstrate your determination to find work. It may even provide new career opportunities.
