In today’s world internet matters lot to any company in the world, business and customers are connected using electronic form of communication, wireless technology to fiber optic technology has played a great role in making internet popular on this planet Earth.

Search engines have played a great role in making internet popular, as search engines have delivered the answers to several different questions people type in the search box, the search results produced are website links with some brief text which is displayed when people search for answers. The links are website which the person searching might be interested.

In earlier days Yellow pages played a great role in connecting business to consumers, they were printed and distributed by telephone companies to their loyal customers, the problem with Yellow pages was it used to gather information on regional basis and stuff in the Yellow printed pages, there was an option where companies can pay to get bold listing and highlight their presence. The problem with Yellow pages was the book was very bulky and normally people would use in office or in homes, you cannot have access when you are traveling, another major disadvantage was that you had to flip ages to find the right category and go through the advertisement to see if it serves your interest, again the information is just one line and you don’t know much, so you just had to call and talk about. It’s real waste of time and effort.

Search Engines made like easier, the first to hit the block was Yahoo & MSN, several other’s followed, some used thousand of agents to manually feed in website URL and categories the products or topics. Again human was used in this process to index website and generate data base, the major disadvantage was as the information was sorted manually by trained agents, there was lot of human error and if you are searching for flower shop you would get list of gardens near your home, which did not make sense nor served any purpose of doing so. Still the early search engines where very useful as it did gave information on Global basis, but it required lot of hours to search the what you needed.

The industry badly needed a new search engine which had logics and had some sort of intelligence working to produce search result exactly what people where looking at. Then came this two guy to Stanford by name Sergey & Page, they were doing PHD in Stanford and where very strong at mathematical equations, and where not happy with the old style search engines, they developed a search algorithm and thus the Large scale Hyper textual web search engine “GOOGLE” was born, it was primary used to search documents within the Stanford and slowly its popularity grew and become a business model. Google Website ranking is very important for any online business model, it is also said if you are not on Google you are not in business.

Google changed the way search engines worked, and became a big hit among technologist & youngster who wanted things fast and quick and suddenly the word of mouth spread and Google became search engines by choice for millions of users around the world, very strangely Google never advertised in public, people used because the search engine produced accurate task, helping companies and individual to search information on the task easily. Today it is one of the very fast growing brands in the world, stands at No. 3

In today’s world it looks foolish to ask any friend where can I buy cheap car tires, the best thing would be check out on Google, it will tell you companies who are offering tire service in your town with prices as well, what else you need ?. this information would be up to date information which Google would provide you including driving direction ( maps ) as well. Google can produce this information because it has previously indexed electronically millions of website and webpage and has stored in the data base, from which it produces search results, the data based in continuously updated automatically by search spiders crawling and reading each website and each page as well to see if any new information has been updated on the website. Lot of people questioned How does Google rank websites ?, there answer would be – there are several consideration the most important is back Links to your site, if several website point link to your website that means your website has material of interest. This is often called as Link building service as well, quality content is very important as well.

Google likes new data, as it like to deliver fresh content to its customer who are information savvy, in 1990 English was primary the internet search language, Google did realize that in world there are more than 200 different languages spoken and they wanted to cater to each individual on this planet, thus they decided to develop multilingual search platform, today Google offers searches from German to Korean.

Companies are adding new application for Mobile phone users also, because next big wave in search engine technology will be using Mobile phones not the Desktop computers, as people carry more smart phones which are internet enabled, thus will now use phone for surfing, shopping, sending emails, checking driving directions, etc…
