SEO By: Nina Nina
Today with the way the World Wide Web has been growing extensively, many people find a lot of it very mysterious and something that is untouchable. SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimization which places a website at the top most position of that category which is considered mysterious. This term has been widely extended to Search Engine Marketing, which includes those aspects of paid advertising as well as other marketing activities online, but since we are discussing SEO, we will just stick to that. SEO in simple terms means the promotion of a particular website by increasing the position when an individual searches for it in major search engines. Those search engines include Google as well as Yahoo!, Bing and many more. The main idea is to keep the site on the top most position while being searched for as compared to its similar sites online. This is called “organic” SEO that means that this ranking is due to the plain old typical search results as compared to when you are required to pay in order to place your site on the search engine results. SEO could be worth a lot. First, it is free and second with the internet growing so rapidly, these search engines are what people depend on to search the information they need. The most primary among these search engines is Google and according to market researches done Google has a market share of 81.22% in the entire global market as of June 2009. The main reason why Google has become so successful is because the word “Google” has prominently placed itself in the dictionary among the browsers today. The main idea behind these search engines is to find related information on the keyword typed on the search engine and have results within seconds. When a user first types out the keyword in the search box, the search engine immediately and successfully delivers the result, but if a search engine fails to find results for the related information then it will not last long on the digital scene. Performing this successfully involves sophisticated and amazing programming, incredible servers, which are extremely powerful. However it should be kept in mind that he reason why a webpage has been ranked on the top nobody knows, Following are a few fundamental truths about SEO, and it is fair to say that these search engines do have to consider the following when giving a ranking to a particular website. 1) The contents of the website or page, what it is all about, and prominent words 2) The words that are being used on the title of the page 3) The words that are being used on the URL of that page 4) The words that are being highlighted on the page 5) The internal links on the website that point towards this page 6) The external links that point towards this page and most importantly if those websites or pages are relevant 7) The text that has been used to form these links, both external as well as internal. 8) The age of the domain name is also important while being ranked
