Title Tag Optimization. The right and Efficient Way of Doing It. By: Cristian Lungu
Of course, search engine optimization addresses a fairly large number of onsite variables and between these, title tags still hold ground. Without doubt title tags can make a substantial difference in the way your sie competes for certain keywords. The benefits title tags carry for your site are twofold: firstly it provides your webpages with increased ranking power and secondly it improves the click through rate - translated in increased sales and/or opt-in rates. The starting point for an effective title tag optimization are the right keywords. And choosing the right keywords can only be accomplished with a thorough keyword research campaign. The chosen keywords should then be scattered across the whole web page. In other words, embed them in the text body (in a concentration of 2-3%) in the title, description and so on. Refering the title tag, make sure the keywords are placed in its first portion. This lets search engines know that the page is highly relevant for the keyword you are targeting. Maybe the biggest asset for this arrangement lies in the fact that once it appears bolded in the SERPs, the keyword literally speaks with the visitor convincing him about the perfect match between his needs and your content. The rapid keywords insertion technique is also determined upon by the varying number of seeable characters, as provided by various search engines. This inconsistency has its root in different SEs policies and net browsers capabilities, but as a general guideline the visible spectrum of title tags vary among 60 and 65 characters - spaces included. That means you don't have any space to waste words or space. Don't forget that you are writing the title for visitors as well as search engines. Keyword stuffed titles will probably bring you lots of click-thrus but few sales and opt-ins rates, plus some red flags with SEs. Your title should be an actual sentence, phrase or description, and should not be a series of keywords separated by commas or dashes. This will ensure that you don't seem like spam to either a search engine or a person, both of which will help to maintain and raise your reputation and your overall value. Like in all other areas of onsite SEO, using too many keywords and using them too heavily will have a negative affect on the results that you end up seeing. This is all you need to know for a quick and effective start of your onsite campaign. The world of search engine optimization is always changing and evolving, and the best practices for how to optimize your title tag are always being updated as well. Nevertheless, top rankings require every onpage factor to be rigorously optimized and a big portion of your efforts should be channeled towards the page title.
