LONDON - The resale platform on the London Olympic ticketing website has reopened to ticketholders who want to sell their tickets from 3 pm GMT on Tuesday.

The London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG) has announced that holders who wish to offer their tickets for resale can do so for a two-week period until 18:00 GMT on 3 February.

All tickets offered for resale through www.tickets.london2012.com during this period will be purchased directly by LOCOG at face value.

These tickets will then be made available to the public from April, and LOCOG will release further information on the purchase process in due course.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of our ticketing resale platform," LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend said, referring to some ticketing problems early in this month.

"We are delivering on that commitment, and will buy any tickets that customers are no longer able to use at face value until 3 February. Every ticket we purchase from the public will be offered back to the public from April. We believe this system - purchasing the tickets back from customers now, and offering them again from April, will result in a better customer experience for everyone," the director added.

The resale process, aiming to help ensure the Olympic venues are full this summer, allow those who have bought tickets directly from LOCOG before 6 January 2012 but are no longer able to attend to sell them to other sports fans.

The program had started as planned on January 6 but after the problems developed with the site slow to update information, resulting in a system closing later on that day.
